Scope of the Problem

Counselors, teachers, pastors, and church members agree that there are many Christians dealing with issues that negatively impact their lives. They also agree that there are limited resources and services designed to provide safety for victims, education for perpetrators, and address the causes, effects, treatment and prevention of family violence and teen pregnancy. Consequently the escalation of emotional and mental disorders resulting from unresolved issues connected to these issues are increasing in Christian families and relationships. There is also a need for Scripture to be rightly interpreted so that the true meaning of the roles, privileges, and responsibilities of each family member can be addressed from a Christian perspective. There is a lack of empirical evidence to show the prevalence of domestic violence and teen pregnancy in the church. Because of the escalation of emotional and mental disorders resulting from unresolved issues, and dysfunctional family systems, many families are in trouble of disintegrating.
